Mapula Lodge is situated on a large island on the edge of the floodplains in the private, game-rich Mapula Reserve within the northern Okavango Delta. It overlooks a permanent lagoon which is brimming with resident hippo.
Mapula has nine well-spaced, private stone-and-thatch chalets each connected with sandy pathways. They are built on raised platforms amongst a grove of ancient trees each with stunning views across the lagoon. Each chalet has its own living area and ensuite facilities.
The main area of Mapula Lodge is an open plan thatched lounge and dining area, large deck which is shaded by an ancient African Ebony Tree, a small library and curio shop. On the lower deck is a small pool with sunloungers and shade where guests can cool off. In the evening guests can sit around the bush bar and have pre-dinner drinks.
Activities at Mapula focus on day and night game drives, mokoro (dug-out canoe) trips (water levels permitting) , boat trips and guided walks.
