Another gem - this superb camp is found on the banks of the Luangwa River, nestled amongst shady ebony trees. The view from Chamilandu is spectacular with the river, animals, and a vast African sky to look onto . Here you really get the feeling of being at one with nature as the roomy thatched chalets are open fronted, all looking onto the river.
Sleeping only 6, this camp is perfect for small groups. Each chalet is built on 2m high stilts and is beautifully decorated with it’s own en-suite twin showers, basins and toilet. Where else can you shower in privacy and watch an elephant dusting itself below you?
A speciality of Chamilundu is the hide, situated on one of the many lagoons close by. From here you can remain comfortably out of sight while watching animals up close, going about their daily lives. They will not be aware of your presence and many spectacular sightings have been reported here. Activities on offer include morning and evening gamedrives and walking safaris.
The bushbeat reports the food at Chamilundu to be “out of this world”, with the chef making magic in his small kitchen.
