Island Bushcamp is located on the banks of the Luangwa River and is nestled in the shade of old Mahogany Trees. With views stretching from the Chindeni Hills in the Eastern corner of the Luangwa Valley to the Muchinga Escarpment in the West, Island Bushcamp presents you with a completely natural and wild environment.
At Island Bushcamp each of the 5 chalets are completely open at the front with 180 degree views of the Luangwa River. Each chalet is raised off the ground and have en-suite bathrooms with a traditional bucket shower. The camp has no electricity and is run on solar and paraffin lights.
The main area consists of a cosy lounge and bar area. Candelit dinners are offered by the river or one can relax in the evening near the fireplace and discuss the days’ events.
Activities include morning and afternoon bush walks complemented by game drives or one can partake in sundowners overlooking one of the many hippo pods. For those combining Island Bush Camp with the sister camp Three Rivers Camp, a 4 hour walk is possible as a means of transfer between camps.
