Rhino Safari Camp

profile

Rhino Safari Camp is situated on a private concession on the western boundary of the Matusadona National Park on Lake Kariba.

The camp is about being in the bush and closer to nature. The grounds are unfenced and the wildlife roams freely along the shoreline and sometimes through the camp – it is not unusual to find an elephant browsing outside your room during siesta time, or hippos grazing in the area at night.

The park is home to elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, as well as wildlife found in the Lake waters – hippos, crocodiles and a diverse variety of birdlife.  The camp offers a friendly, exclusive and close to nature destination for walkers, outdoors enthusiasts, birders, photographers and fishermen.

Rhino Safari Camp has seven twin bedded rooms built on the principles of the Tonga people who are local to the area – two metres above the ground with vented extended thatch roofs to protect you from the extremes of weather, reed half walls for privacy, but open fronts to fully appreciate the breathtaking views of the lake and the private real life dramas of elephants, birds, and other wild events playing out on the shoreline.

Each room has its own en suite facilities – situated at the back and at a slightly lower level…with flush toilet, hand basin, and open air shower in which guests can enjoy a starlit shower, and being far from light pollution, just marvel at how many stars there are in the heavens at night.
