Tongabezi Lodge is located on the shore-line of the great Zambezi River in Livingstone, just a short drive from the magnificent Victoria Falls. Tongabezi Lodge is made up of 6 houses and 5 River Cottages that cater for up to 3 or 5 guests each. Every room at Tongabezi is en-suite, individually styled with decor collected from all over Africa, and each of the Houses has its own name and personality.

Honeymooners often stay in the Honeymoon House, but if they’re crazy in love they might prefer the Moroccan-styled Nut House. The Bird House is an idyllic spot for birdwatchers and in fact has an almost birds’ eye view over the Zambezi where the sun sets each night. The Dog House is perfect for families or two couples travelling together, since it is more than big enough for everybody to have a little privacy! The Garden House is the only room at Tongabezi without a river view, but this makes it ideal for families since this two-bedroomed House is fully enclosed within welcoming stone walls and comes with its own plunge pool, sitting room, and garden for playing in. The Tree House (last, but secretly Tongabezi’s favourite), is the only fully open room left. This House is built instead into the basalt rock and the riverine ebony trees, and enables guests to fully experience the sights, sounds, and feel of living above the majestic Zambezi River.

The catering offered by the lodge allows guests a chance to try out Zambian traditional cuisine, and a large amount of the fruit, vegetables and herbs come from Tongabezi’s own garden which guests are very welcome to visit. Each house and cottage is provided with its own private dining area. Tongabezi is fully inclusive, and even offers an extensive range of inclusive activities: these include a guided visit to Victoria Falls*, a tour of the local markets, an island picnic, dinner on a floating sampan on the Zambezi, a visit to Tongabezi’s pop-up sandbar, or a morning or afternoon spent at the Tongabezi Trust School with some of the 270 local Zambian children who receive an entirely free education there.

Tongabezi is also very happy to plan external activities for their guests. Some of the activities on offer in the adrenaline-filed Livingstone area include a tour of Livingstone Island and a possible dip in Devil or Angel’s Pool, white water rafting, walking with rhinos, microlight and helicopter rides, and bungee jumping off Victoria Falls bridge.

Any activities in a National Park will involve a small entrance fee
