Baker’s Lodge boasts ten beautifully appointed safari suites on decks, overlooking the majestic River Nile. Located on the south bank of the Nile, the lodge takes advantage of the cool breezes from the river and has spectacular views. The site has a good number of shady trees and is home to a large array of birdlife. Baker’s is eco-friendly using the most up to date technology available for solar power and efficient management of resources. Local materials have been used wherever possible to build the lodge, and it has a feeling of ‘Africa of olde’ – that of the explorers era, when Mr Samuel Baker first came to this region. With the varied eco-system the animal and bird life is prolific, including nearby chimpanzee trekking in the Budongo Forest.

During your safari you will be taken on game drives in Murchison Falls National Park, as well as a memorable boat cruise up the Nile River to the foot of the Falls. The immense force of the water and the views of the Falls are awe inspiring from the close-up viewing points. Your park experience can be enhanced by combining river voyages with a safari. Travel by boat to the delta and return to Paraa with a game drive through the game-rich Buligi area. Or leave your boat in Fajao Gorge and climb to the top of the Falls for the view down into the thunderous chasm, before returning to your lodge by vehicle.

The Lodge has its own fleet of river boats—varying in size for different uses, such as game viewing, site seeing, birdwatching and fishing. Private dinners, luncheons, breakfasts and snacks on board the boat can be organised. Baker’s Lodge is a great base for those keen on fishing for the Nile Perch. It operates on a strict catch and release policy.
