Who would have known that the Covid 19 virus would have thrown a spanner in the works for our tourism in Zambia and the rest of the World. We as Zambian Residents have been lucky enough to continue to support our local lodges and camps during this time with a handful of them staying open to the Zambian public - Royal Zambezi Lodge in the Lower Zambezi National Park being one of them. We had the wonderful opportunity of having a weekend at the Lodge in June.
What a special place it is right on the banks of the Lower Zambezi River, with an abundance of game and birds right infront of you as you sit sipping your steaming cup of coffee at sunrise. That alone has to be one of the best sunrises you will ever get the privilege of experiencing, as the bush around you springs into life.
The management at Royal Zambezi Lodge is excellent offering a personal touch to their guests, and even though the Lodge was fully booked, we still felt like the only ones there. We had great tiger fishing on the river and wonderful game drives with sightings of elephant, lion, impala, buffalo, hippo and baboon. Delicious meals keep one fully satisfied, complemented with great local and imported drinks from the bar.
We had a wonderful weekend and cannot wait to return to this beautiful piece of paradise.
